Scorpio Full Moon Horoscopes for April 23, 2024
The moon is full at 4 degrees Scorpio of the tropical zodiac at 4:50 PM Pacific Daylight Time on April 23, 2024. As I begin, I like to ask that the forces of love and light surround me and bless my communication with you all.
Scorpio is the eighth sign of the tropical zodiac. It is the second water sign and the third of the fixed signs. Scorpio’s watery element brings us power through transformation, and sometimes transformation through power. Scorpio seeks both; we see the spectrum of such emotional drive in the array of symbolic animals used to represent this sign. It is the only sign with so many symbols to represent the complexity of its dynamic. First there’s the scorpion, a stinging machine that can actually sting itself to death in the process of stinging its prey. Then there’s the lizard, living in rock crevices that must come out into the sun to be warmed up enough to move and hunt. Then there’s the eagle that flies in the sky, getting an arial view of its prey, swooping down to carry it off in its powerful claws. And finally, there’s the mythical phoenix, which can burst itself into flames and rise out of its own ashes. In this trajectory we see the journey of Scorpio from the hunter who needs the prey to be powerful to the phoenix which contains within itself all that’s necessary for regeneration.
When the moon is in Scorpio our emotions take a deep dive. We may find our emotions this full are magnetically drawn to those experiences, people or situations that seem to give us power over what oppresses us or that empower us to be more ourselves. There’s always a temptation to become enslaved by a thirst for power or even vengeance, but there’s also the potential to become enlightened and empowered through surrendering to a loving source bigger than our egos. Isabel Hickey wrote long ago about these early degrees in Scorpio that an individual with sun here could be saint or sinner—-or both—in one lifetime—that there’s almost nothing in-between. She cited St. Francis of Assisi as an example.
Like Aries, Scorpio is ruled by Mars. But unlike Aries, which is a cardinal sign, setting up the conditions for new birth and beginnings, Scorpio is a fixed sign. In fixed signs we deal with karmic will through our experiences. Fixed energy must have the experience to learn the lesson. So while Aries uses Martian energy to push outward and forward, Scorpio uses that energy to turn within. The battlefield is the soul. Scorpio energy is where we battle our demons. All outward experiences it leads us to end up providing us with just such a battle.
