“Crescent Moon Between Clouds Over Ocean,” chalk pastel memory sketch by Maria Theresa Maggi
Dear Readers and Listeners, Welcome to Maria’s StarGarden and Happy Aquarius New Moon! As I begin, I ask that the forces of love and light surround us and bless our communication.
The moon is new at 20 degrees Aquarius of the tropical zodiac on February9, 2024 at 2:58 PM Pacific Standard Time.
Aquarius is the eleventh sign of the tropical zodiac and the last of the air signs .It is also the last of the fixed signs, which means its energy evolves by learning from experience. Aquarians add a flash of genius to the reasoning process, but they also can be quite “fixed” in their preconceived ideas. In the physical body Aquarius rules the circulatory system and the shins and ankles These body parts support the whole of the body, bringing it nutrients and strength of foundation on which to stand and walk. Aquarius, though an air sign, is depicted by a figure, perhaps angelic, pouring water into a stream. Called the water bearer, this figure signifies that Aquarius means its inspired mentality to benefit the whole of humanity. Unlike its opposite Leo, which can be very passionate about the personal, Aquarius is much more detached and seeks to benefit all of us with its abstract ideas.
Aquarius is forward looking; it rules the future, which makes sense, since the future is often in large part the ideas we have of it. In past newsletters, I have talked about the transfiguration of Jesus to his best apostle friends as an example of the enigma of the flash of future Aquarius knowing. Jesus reveals to them his divinity, and while they experience it, they are unable to look directly at it and are told that now they know, but they must keep it to themselves until the time is right. Aquarian genius comes like that kind of transfiguration. The challenge is how and when to bring that knowledge into practical understanding for others.
This new moon is a time we might emotionally enjoy roaming the universe from our desks, our phones or our screens. We enjoy the workings of the mind as it sparks the combination of our intuition and our curiosity. We may receive sudden sparks of knowing about our futures. We may also be distracted or feel like we have our heads in the clouds. Aquarius energy is quite abstract so the proof in the pudding will be if the ideas we enjoy exploring at this time can become grounded in use as this lunar cycle progresses.
