“Moon Over House and Rainbow,” chalk pastel by Maria Theresa Maggi
The moon is full at 6 degrees of Aries in the tropical zodiac at 2:58 AM Pacific Daylight Time on September 29, 2023. As I begin to tell you about it, I ask that the forces of love and light surround us, and bless our communication. At the new Virgo moon a couple of weeks ago we began a preparation for this time by recommitting to a creative practice that could ground us through detail and examination. Now, at the full Aries moon, lunar energies ask us to fulfill that spirit of preparation and practice by making a conscious adjustment to act on our own creative behalf. The studies we undertook in the spirit of Virgo now become a course of action that we may recognize as the outer picture or template of an internal mental process. How are our actions speaking louder than words? Do we need to find a way to adjust those actions to fit the words or methods we used earlier in the cycle? Or do we need to act in support of what we learned but have not yet applied?
Aries is an instinctual sign of first beginnings. And yet here we are, just days after the Autumn Equinox of September 22, which signals increasingly shorter days, and the beginning of slowing down into the contraction and dream gestating of winter. How can the guidance of Aries, which rules over the Spring equinox, help us navigate the Fall Equinox?
Perhaps we arrive and must begin at something we now recognize as a final chapter. Perhaps we begin to end an old pattern or dynamic. It may not be something we planned per se. Virgo energy is all about the plans, so certainly we’ve made some during the past two weeks. But at this full moon we may find ourselves acting in ways that break from the plan we’ve so carefully designed. Maybe we reach the part of the plan where we have to let instinctual wisdom take over. We need to trust what feels courageous and right to us, even if we designed a different course
This Aries full moon energy could mean that some of us come into our own agency in ways that utterly change the way we move through the world. Or someone in our circle experiences that kind of breakthrough that then also means there’s a game changer for us in how we act in response.
The fire of Aries lights the way before the annular solar eclipse coming October 14, which will be visible out here on the Oregon Coast.
