The moon catches up with the sun to renew itself on November 4, 2021 at 2:14 Pacific Daylight Time. In these last days before Daylight savings end, the sky appears empty of the moon. But a couple of days before it’s new, if you can see the sun rise, you might also catch the faintest outline of a crescent on a collision course with the rising sun, in just those moments before the light of the sun absorbs it entirely. This is the very last phase, the balsamic phase, before the moon is new in Scorpio on November 4.
