The moon is new at 7 degrees Taurus of the tropical zodiac on April 27, 2025 at 12:31 PM Pacific Daylight Time.Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac, the first earth sign, and the first of the fixed signs of karmic will and experience. Its energy forms the foundation of our values and thus the resources we have to build a life on those values. Taurus likes stability and comfort, and it rules the throat in the physical body. Its time of year is now, as Spring opens beautifully from April into May in the northern hemisphere. Taurus likes the comfort and accumulation of material things, and since it’s an earth sign, it doesn’t like things to change quickly or suddenly. But for the last several years the planet Uranus, sometimes known as the disrupter, has been traveling in Taurus, so Taurean stability is getting a makeover.
This new moon is in early rather than late Taurus, so it isn’t right next to the planet Uranus, but it is midway between two powerful planetary forces opposing each other, Mars in Leo and Pluto in Aquarius. Mars moved into Leo about a week before this new moon and made its exact opposition to Pluto just the day before this new moon. When Mars moved into Leo we saw initiative get fiery again—both on the world stage, in politics, and in the people as a whole, which Pluto in Aquarius describes. If you are one of those people who have wanted to see more forceful and fiery and compassionate pushback against the authoritarian tendencies of the current US administration, Mars in Leo lights up that pushback now. Taurus, Leo and Aquarius are all fixed signs, which means they help manifest actual experiences that help us evolve and upgrade our karmic will. So when planetary energy is fixed, we are going to have experiences in order to gain understanding and grow. With the fire energy of Mars initiating that opportunity for awareness, things may continue to be volatile. The new Taurus moon steps in halfway between Mars and Pluto to say hey, we need a way to establish a foundation for more security in our finances and our food supply and our ability to have what we need. It would also say if it could talk that the huge need for change these Mars and Pluto are making us aware of also means we need to come together rather than fight amongst ourselves over how to make it happen. Have you ever had a teacher that commanded the presence of students doing something other than paying attention by simply going to stand next to their desks while continuing to teach? I have. That’s the way this Taurus moon reacts to the volatility of Mars and Pluto and gets them to pay attention to each other rather than fight for center stage. Taurus energy helps us use physical stability to bring attention that stabilizes and focuses us to root as a way to release tension.
Since Taurus also rules the throat in the physical body, it literally brings us the emotional instinct to give voice to our concerns. Taurus is a lover of music and the human voice, so we may see musicians or music in general be used as a powerful tempering agent to bring people together or to express where we want to go.
